Adolescent Training Program

Subject: Re: Weight Program
Box jumps are done by placing about a 20 square box and jumping side to side
and fron to back for time periods
explosivness
db have to have that so does evryone
looking at your program
i would try to do more free weight stuff and throw in some machine stuff to
complement the free stuff
dead lifts
cleans
squats
squat lunges

let me give you a range for reps
i can bench about 340 if i work out
at that max
i can hit 225 15 times about twice
then 10 twice

so max and rop percentages to the 15 reps

or 225/340= .66
so max 200 x .66 = 132
thats an idea

work on speed in oyur rep work
do not listen to these trainers at weight rooms
i try to hold my breath on becnhes for a set of 10-15
then i let loose
do breath on leg lifts
your are wanting rythem to help get his max up
everything is in technique
wear a belt for any standing lifts

Thank you for the info. Coach

What is a Box jump?

all those figures would have to be decided after maxing out on each. do like herschel walker do 2000 push ups per day 4000 sit ups
do less than that but that is a great program.
then run sprints
do box jumps
jump rope
run 2 miles each morning

Hello Coach Next year my son enters High school and I would like to prepare him for High School football. He has been in and out of football over the past four years( starting with tackle then flag football). I am looking for safe effective weight lifting program that we can use to best prepare him for next season. We presently using the following program (see below-Adolescent Training Program) over the next month to get him started. We are searching for a program to take him to next season. He wants to try for DB. He has played on the O-line,and WR.
Any assitance would be of great assistance.

Quoting "REAL PERSON
Dear Sir,
I am new in the UK. I came into the country few weeks ago. I am a student and I am studying at Wesminster College of Computing. I have 3 years Visa to study a 3 years course in the UK. All I want to ask for is: I need a place to be playing football. I played football in my former school. So, I want to continue playing because I love football. I want to be training even if I don play for a club. I will like to train and keep fit. I need somewhere near my home. If I cannot train in your place, please do give me another place I can be training. I am lacking training. Please, help me out.
Thanks for your understanding.
--------------
that is a very wierd question?
I do not have a training place other than my local gym.
I would suggest
2 mile runs in the morning 5 days per week.
jump rope 15 minutes 5 days per week
run 10 100 meter sprints 3 day per week.
do 200-300 push ups 6 days per week
do 10 dips 4 days per week
then throw in a 4 day per week weight prgrams if you have a place to work out.

If not increase you push ups and dips and find some other cave man stuff.
you might buy this book

Weight Training for Football
it has all kinds of cave man stuff
thanks

We are having our first scrimmage today

Quoting Football Coach>:
Thanks for all of the information you have provided. I have another
question. We are having our first scrimmage today, and I was wondering what I need to be doing offensively. Do I create a script and run those 10 scripted plays like I would a game plan, or do I just run through the playbook and see how each play does and then run through it again? We are using the 01 playbook you have on your site. We have modified Power I Rt fake 22 43 to be a trap play where we are pulling the offside guard. I think this will be an awesome play. Do we run that in a scrimmage, or wait? I don't think anyone in our league has run a trap play since I have been associated with this youth league. I am excited.
But I digress, back to the scrimmage question. I was just going to run plays and document how well they were executed. Or is there a better.
--------------
I think scrimmages should be used to develop hard nose tactics and not show all my guns. Script? Yes I would run a 4 - 5 play script on both sides and monitor crucial areas like x blocks. How the back handles the ball and the qb the hand off and line of scrimmage for infractions. any dropped balls and off the field for up downs. then back on. They have to know there are consequences for major infraction like lost balls in tall grass. We scrimmage next monday. Get everyone in and try to have fun. Don't you coach 8-9's. I think you will find it difficult at best to pull anyone unless you are pulling to kick out and end. Trying to trap inside with little guys is almost always a losing afair as the center guard gaps are the hardest to defend. So pulling some one from inside lets a guy run free to my qb and mess up the whole she bang.

Practice schedule and how to rank players

I hope it is OK to send you a question. This is my first year to coach Youth 10-12 yr old Football. I was a football player as a youth, and played in Jr. High and High School. I also love to watch football but I need some help or advice on coaching. By the way, before volunteering I thought I was a great coach in the stands.
But anyway, I was wondering if you had any advice on some drills to run for player evaluations. The players will be in full pads, and have about 15 - 20 minutes at my station. Myself and other coaches on my team will be evaluating players for out draft on Sunday. Some if not most of these kids will be first year players. Also, do you have any advice on what to use for evaluation sheets that we fill out on each player. One last question, do you have any advice on a practice schedule to use for the first couple of weeks of practice and then a practice schedule to use to the rest of the season. We are allowed 2 two hour practices a week, and 1 one hour pre game practice. Please let me know if I am asking too much or more than your service provides.

2 Links to my online guide here
ask them if they have ashma
ask them their phone number and address
ask them if they wanted to sign up or if they got signed by a parent against
their will.
ask them all these things after runnings the forty while they are winded and
unready for your quiz. you will notice right off who has brains.
ask them if they play other sports.
make them do 2 roll overs then throw a ball out in front of them to jump on and
scream ball. See who looks like they don;t want to hit the ground

always race the kids and narrow it down to about 5-8 and hopefully everyone
will notice why these kids get to run the ball.

race the biggest kids and the fastest big kids get to play end or maybe even
linebacker depending on rules about weights.

yes your right
i played 6 years college and THOUGHT I knew what i was getting into. Nope got
killed and ripped and romped and plowed.

It takes alot of talent and help to properly coach 11 people to do what you
tell them
